HOW TO PLAY
War Thunder is based on combined arms battles in air, land and sea. According to the game's creative director, Kirill Yudintsev, it is the only game that encompasses all 3 experiences in a single play session.[18] Vehicles range from pre-World War Thunder2022 I service ships, from the number of interwar and thus Spanish war for tanks and ships to the Asian nation war and beyond, with an emphasis on war II [19] [20] [21] still as an emphasis on the Vietnam War and thus the Cold War.[22] Players will command ships, land vehicles, and warships from the United States, Germany, Russia, Great Britain, and Japan, as well as nations with smaller armies or less prominence in conflicts, such as Italy, France, China, and Sweden.

ARCADE BATTLES
Arcade battles (also known as "arcade" or "AB") can be a fast game mode with many player assistants to make the game easier. Most vehicles get more power from the engine and tanks have higher turret traverse rates. Markers are on most of the time, showing players where the enemies are. The player's chosen nation has no effect on the enemies they will encounter; they can fight with the exact same vehicle they are playing with. WAR THUNDER Reviews2022 WAR THUNDER Reviews2022
gear grinding
I wish War Thunder would stand tall. But unfortunately, it falls apart with the introduction of tank combat.
Where aerial combat is fast and graceful, tanks are laborious and finicky. Gestures towards realism only serve to lengthen things. The first few tanks stall on the gentler slopes, and War Thunder consistently overestimates my interest in driving a tank's manual transmission. It's like persuading a slug.
The slow pace is exacerbated by a combat system where the person who spots the target first is likely to kill them. Thus, battlefields too often become careful camps, and by the time you maneuver into a good position, your glacial pace has consumed a quarter of the battle time.
Back in my day...
At first, War Thunder started out more like a flight simulation game with only 200 planes where you would start with biplanes from the inter-war era. Players would gradually work their way through the progressive XP-based system from early WWII and late WWII aircraft to Cold War-era Jets (Jets are the pinnacle of the game, and they always picked the super cool ones to keep you hooked).
These 3 game modes are still the core of the game today, only now there are thousands of planes in 8 nations, but with the addition of tanks, helicopters, and ships, all of which have been incredibly handcrafted with the most incredible detail. WAR THUNDER Reviews2022 WAR THUNDER Reviews2022

New players don't panic
For a new player entering War Thunder in 2021, initially, it all seems pretty overwhelming, but Gaijin has very cleverly placed a lot of tips, tricks, and hints throughout the game to make it that much
more engaging. Mainly, the game includes tutorials for each vehicle category, showing him the basics to get started, and in some cases, he also earns in-game currency for doing so, which is a nice little bonus.
Things get more intense in the air with Realistic and Simulator, which take the game into flight simulation territory. There you need to move toward everything from a more strategic viewpoint. The physics are much more rigorous, which really highlights the differences between planes. This is particularly noticeable when you go from early 1930s biplanes like the Gladiator to WWII fighters like the Hurricane and Spitfire.

War Thunder is a sprawling WWII simulation that you can get lost in due to its wide range, intense combat, large number of vehicles, casual and challenging difficulty settings, and extensive upgrade paths. Furthermore, the game is constantly growing with the addition of new planes, tanks and maps, and the promise of naval forces and more game modes. While the initial learning curve is daunting, this is one of those games that opens up dramatically the more you play it, so the time commitment is worth it, whether you're a laid-back dog fighter or a slow cooker.
